Westport Championship Golf Course and Driving Range
260 acres of undulating parklands with breathtaking views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay
The magnificent Westport Golf Club is one of Ireland’s finest 18-hole parkland courses. Just 5 minutes drive from Westport, this scenic splendour encapsulates 260 acres of undulating parklands with breathtaking views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay.
It has played host to the Irish Amateur Close Championship and in recent years the Smurfit Irish PGA Championship. At 15, Rory McIlroy become the youngest ever winner of the Irish Amateur Close Championship at Westport Golf Club in 2005, his first ever senior championship victory.
Floodlit Driving Range, Chipping and Putting Greens
The driving range has 20 driving bays, 9 of which are covered allowing for golf practice all year round. Westport has the capacity to allow up to 30 players to practice at any one time. Beside the driving range there is a double bunkered chipping green with two unique pin positions. Over the years the undulating 6-hole putting green has been developed to best simulate the course type and conditions.

The professionals
Head professional, Alex Mealia, looks forward to meeting with the members and visitors to the Championship course at Carrowholly. Always one to keep an eye on trends in the industry, Alex and his team have created a unique Junior Golf coaching strategy which has become an essential corner stone for the future success and development of Westport Golf Club.
Alex is assisted by Canadian PGA Professional, Todd O’Reilly, a student of the game for 25 years. He secured his Class A designation in 2006 and has completed Levels 1-4 of the CPGA Teaching and Coaching Certification Program. Having trained at Capilano and the Banff Springs, two of Canada’s finest Clubs, Todd enjoys teaching players of all abilities, especially beginner and junior golfers.
The extensively stocked shop caters for all the needs of those playing at this exciting course.
Lessons are also available to help you enjoy and improve your game.
The 19th hole
Every golf club can be judged on its 19th hole and Westport Golf Club is no different. Visitors can enjoy a spacious lounge area with comfortable seating, two televisions and a pool table to unwind just before their prize presentation.
Our restaurant caters to patrons with a locally sourced bar food menu and a la carte service in the evening time. With seafood a particular speciality, private parties can be catered for with an extensive wine list also available.
Westport Golf Club can also offer a buffet style “al fresco” menu. Diners can avail of this special experience while viewing the golfers on both the 1st and 18th holes. Barbecues are a speciality and to date there has been no need for a “smoke on the course” ruling during any club competition.
Air conditioned locker rooms are available for visitors prior to their round at Westport Golf Club. This is also an opportunity to meet with members and the chance to get some local knowledge about our Championship Course.
