Zorbing – the adrenaline ride of a lifetime
Zorbing tumbled into existence in the mid-1990’s in New Zealand and Adventure West have now joined up with Westport House to bring it to Ireland’s Adventure hub: Westport! Zorbing is well suited to families, teenagers, hen or stag groups, birthday celebrations – and it is guaranteed to provide a rush you’ll never forget!
Westport House is home to Ireland’s only custom-built zorbing site where you can choose one of two fun-filled OGO rides:
The tamer of the two rides, hydro zorbing can be best described as an invigorating mixture of a waterslide and rollercoaster ride. This wet and wild experience involves one, two or three riders (depending on total weight) entering the OGO at the top of the hill, and we add in 20-25 litres of warm water. Then we secure the door closed and launch the OGO downhill. No dizziness, just good clean fun!
The more extreme zorbing ride using suspended seat harnesses. These harnesses have 32 points of attachment to the ball to ensure that the rider is safely held and the harness has 6 attachment points around the body as well as hand and foot holds. One or two riders are securely harnessed inside the OGO before being sent rolling head over heels downhill to watch the grass and sky go spinning past.

What to wear
For harness zorbing, you can wear everyday clothing as long as your shoulders are covered. You also need to wear socks, so it’s a good idea to bring a spare pair. For hydro zorbing, we recommend shorts and t-shirt and you’ll definitely need a towel and a change of clothes for after. Towels, shorts and t-shirts can also be hired onsite. And yes – both male and female changing rooms – with secure locker are available for clothes and valuables.
Zorbing is affected by wind speed and direction. Therefore, for Health & Safety reasons, if winds speeds are deemed to be too high, zorbing may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to reschedule any group bookings to another day.
