Literature has been a core strand of the festival since its inception in 1976, so we are thrilled this year to announce the launch of the Westival International Poetry Competition 2024! This prestigious competition invites poets from around the globe to showcase their talent and creativity.
Our judges this year are Geraldine Mitchell, Ger Reidy, and Sean Lysaght.
The winner will be announced at the reception, followed by readings from our esteemed judges and then we'll open the floor to anyone wishing to share a poem at the Poetry Open Mic.
Music on the night will by provided by Mná Mná, a Westport-based jazz quartet, playing a mix of original songs and jazz standards.
