"Woken" Screening followed by Q&A with Alan Friel and Maxine Peake

Local film-maker Alan Friel will screen Woken, his sci-fi thriller feature film, on October 26th at 9pm in the W Cinema. Woken is a gripping dystopian film that stars Erin Kellyman [Star Wars Solo, Marvel’s The Falcon & The Winter Soldier] Maxine Peake [Black Mirror, The Theory Of Everything] and Peter McDonald [The Batman, The Dig]. It follows Anna, a young woman who wakes on a desolate island, pregnant and with no memory of her past. As she struggles to piece together her identity, she discovers that the human race is on the brink of extinction.
Shot on location in County Clare, the film beautifully captures the rugged and otherworldly landscape of the Burren and its surrounding areas. Following the Burren scenes, production moved to Limerick, Westport and post-production took place in Rome with this Irish/Italian co-production.

I am absolutely delighted to be screening it at Westival in our great local cinema.” says Friel.
